A life remembered
Mr Bernard de Verteuil, aged 81, of St Clair, Port of Spain, passed peacefully on 1 July 2026 in the loving care of his family. He will be remembered for his quiet dignity, his devotion to those he loved and his steadfast faith.
Born and raised in Port of Spain, Bernard gave many years of distinguished service to the Bar as a barrister, and was a lifelong parishioner of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He is survived by his wife Marguerite, his children Gerard and Antoinette, his grandchildren, and a wide circle of relatives and friends across Trinidad & Tobago and the diaspora.

Service & interment
- ✦A Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of Bernard de Verteuil will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Port of Spain, followed by interment at Lapeyrouse Cemetery, Port of Spain. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in prayer and remembrance of a life quietly and faithfully lived. No flowers by request — donations may be made to the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
